Homework Policy

Homework Policy from the Curriculum Department

1. Philosophy of Homework Implementation
Our institution places significant emphasis on the effective learning of students, recognizing that purposeful homework is vital for enhancing their educational experiences. Homework is considered an integral component of the learning journey, and we are committed to the continuous enhancement of homework design, content, and feedback mechanisms to optimize student performance. Through these initiatives, we strive to promote the overall development of teaching and learning within our school. To further support this objective, our school provides structured homework assistance sessions from Monday to Friday. During these sessions, educators specializing in Chinese, English, and Mathematics, along with class teachers, offer guidance to students, enabling them to complete portions of their homework under the supervision of qualified staff.

5. Homework Implementation Schedule
Monday to Thursday: For the subjects of Chinese, English, and Mathematics, each day will include 1-2 assigned homework tasks. Other subjects will be allocated a reasonable quantity of homework based on specific instructional requirements. To support student learning, daily homework assistance sessions will be conducted, wherein teachers from the Chinese, English, and Mathematics departments, along with class teachers, will supervise and guide students as they complete portions of their homework. This initiative aims to alleviate the overall homework burden at home.
Friday (Weekends / Three-Day Holidays): In the subjects of Chinese, English, and Mathematics, 1-3 homework assignments (including extension activities) will be assigned. Other subjects will be allocated 1-2 homework tasks based on their respective instructional needs. In addition to standard consolidation or assessment assignments, educators will provide opportunities for autonomous learning activities, which students are encouraged to complete at home in accordance with their learning progress. Examples of such autonomous learning assignments include pre-class preparation, post-class extension activities, diverse assessments, or online preparatory work. These autonomous learning tasks are designated as an integral part of the homework framework established by the school.
Christmas / New Year / Easter Long Holidays: During the Christmas, New Year, and Easter long holidays, 2-5 homework assignments will be assigned for the subjects of Chinese, English, and Mathematics, while other subjects will have a reasonable amount of homework assigned based on their specific instructional needs. In addition to standard consolidation or assessment assignments, educators will assign autonomous learning activities for students to engage in at home, aligned with their learning progression. Examples of these autonomous learning activities include pre-class preparation, post-class extension assignments, diverse assessments, or online preparatory work. Such autonomous learning tasks will also be recognized as a designated component of the homework framework established by the school.
