Our school’s Library aims to enhance students’ interest in reading, develop their self-directed learning and independent thinking abilities, and broaden their knowledge horizons. Through reading, we also seek to improve students’ language abilities and information literacy, thereby establishing a foundation for self-learning and lifelong learning.
In different stages of learning, we have different areas of focus:
1. Fostering Students' Interest in Reading (P1-P2): Students in P1 and P2 engage in book sharing activities, primarily focusing on picture books to enhance their interest in learning.
2. Expanding Students' Reading Range (P3-P4): Students in P3 and P4 participate in electronic reading and learn about book classification, which helps broaden their reading range.
3. Deepening Students' Reading Comprehension (P5-P6): Students in P5 and P6 familiarize themselves with book classification, reading strategies, and data collection and organization, aimed at improving their reading depth.
In addition, to promote the goal of “Learning from Reading”, the library organises a series of interesting and diversified reading activities throughout the year. These include Friday morning picture book story sharing, Chinese and English newspaper reading days, monthly teacher book recommendations, Principal’s Story Time, Story Character Role-Play Day, Reading Day booth games, Book Advertisement Competition, and more. Furthermore, the library works closely with various subjects to arrange different cross-curricular reading activities, extending students’ learning and enriching their learning experiences.
