Purpose
Our school implements the “Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)” policy to keep pace with the times and meet the needs of contemporary learning. We aim to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning through information technology, strengthen classroom interaction, boost students’ learning motivation, and develop their abilities in self-directed learning (including pre-lesson, in-lesson and post-lesson), problem-solving and collaboration. At the same time, we hope that students can make good use of technology, cultivate their lifelong learning abilities and 21st century key competencies, equip themselves well, and prepare for future challenges in society.
Policy
- Our school has established a comprehensive wireless network with sufficient coverage. Interactive electronic whiteboards have been installed in every classroom and special room to facilitate the effective implementation of e-learning.
- With the advancement of mobile technology, the performance of mobile computing devices and e-learning resources continues to improve. The school arranges timely training for teachers to enhance their ability to use information technology for teaching.
- To cultivate students’ information literacy, the school has formulated an “Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)”, which details the acceptable and unacceptable behaviours when students use their own devices at school. This serves as a protocol for students’ use of mobile computers, wireless networks and information. The school arranges information literacy programmes every year to promote students’ ability and attitude in using information effectively and ethically.
- Starting from Primary 4, our school designates two BYOD classes per level. There are a total of six BYOD classes from Primary 4 to Primary 6. Students use their personal mobile devices as learning tools. Teachers make good use of e-textbook functions and other multimedia learning resources to monitor students’ learning progress in a timely manner, accelerate the pace of teaching, and promote continuous learning inside and outside the classroom, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
- Homework for BYOD classes is the same as for other classes, using both paper and digital formats.
- Approximately 5 to 10 minutes will be reserved in each lesson for homework guidance.
