Dear Parents and Students,
As we enter a new academic year, I wish you all good health, academic success, and abundant blessings! Together with our school team, I warmly welcome all our new Primary One students, transfer students of all grades, and their families to the Lam Butt Chung Memorial School community!
During the lengthy summer break, I hope students enjoyed a fulfilling and happy time. In addition to completing their summer assignments, many may have engaged in meaningful self-directed learning activities. Perhaps some students learned new life skills, participated in innovative learning experiences, explored various activities, or read specific genres of books. During the graduation ceremony in mid-July, I encouraged students to reflect on their learning outcomes under the theme “Reflecting on Learning Achievements – Enriching Learning Experiences – Cultivating a Love for Learning.” I hope students can take the opportunity during the summer or after school to visit various statutory monuments, museums, and historical buildings in Hong Kong. Each historical structure bears witness to the changes in our city. Students can join free guided tours to expand their learning horizons while enjoying these experiences. After school begins, I encourage everyone to share their insights and learning experiences with me or their peers, fostering communication and sharing of knowledge.
As we return from the summer break, we will embrace a joyful new year of learning. As always, I encourage students to set new annual or phase-specific learning goals. In addition to actively participating in the vibrant school life, students can enrich their learning journey with meaningful activities. This may include sharing their learning joys with peers or teachers, exchanging insights with classmates, teachers, social workers, or myself, and discussing school life with family and friends. Students are also encouraged to read more, stay informed about current events in the world, Our Country, and Hong Kong, practice reading both Chinese and English articles and classical poetry, visit exhibitions and museums, engage in day trips to historical sites, and participate in regular physical activities to strengthen their bodies while pursuing personal interests or developing specific skills.
I firmly believe that every child is a precious gift from God, endowed with unique talents, a love for learning, and an enjoyable learning experience. We uphold the principle that “education comes from the heart.” With our team’s efforts, we aim to provide a curriculum that addresses diverse learning needs, implement varied interactive teaching strategies, and create a caring and supportive learning environment so that every student can enjoy learning and excel.
The saying goes, “It takes ten years to grow trees, but a hundred years to cultivate people.” I strongly believe that raising children is not a short-term task but a long-term, systematic planning process that requires heartfelt nurturing, lasting influence, and immense love. Primary education is a golden period for students’ learning. “Learning begins with emotions”—we hope to nurture a love for learning from a young age. Our team will continue to strive for excellence in providing a healthy and enjoyable school life for our children.
Thanks to God's guidance, the school has operated smoothly over the past year, with facilities being appropriately optimized and various school affairs steadily developing. This success is greatly attributed to the support and cooperation of our parents. With our collaborative efforts, the school will continue to seek improvement through internal and external collaboration, optimizing student growth support measures and specialized curriculum. Additionally, the school will effectively utilize various resources and learning subsidies to offer diverse physical education and academic activities, further broadening students' comprehensive learning experiences and development.
Together with our school team, I will continue to uphold the mission of the Salvation Army, maintaining the traditional values of our school and exemplifying the principles of the Christian faith. We aim to provide a holistic education that balances six aspects of development, catering to the diverse learning needs of students and nurturing their self-discipline and positive character. We strive to help students construct knowledge, develop common abilities, and cultivate positive values and attitudes, promoting their healthy growth and holistic development.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
I wish everyone joy and overflowing blessings!
