We place great importance on moral education, firmly believing that schools should not only impart academic knowledge but also take on the responsibility of nurturing students' positive values.
Our objective is to cultivate twelve essential values in students: "Perseverance", "Respect for Others", "Responsibility", "National Identity", "Commitment", "Integrity" , "Benevolence", "Law-abidingness" , "Empathy", "Diligence","Unity" and “Filial Piety”. We aim for our students to become good citizens who contribute to the nation and society.
To foster self-discipline and adherence to rules, we utilize assemblies and Personal Growth classes to help students understand that self-discipline is a vital aspect of being a good citizen. We also incorporate themes of lawfulness and discipline from external organizations into our life education programs, implementing thematic learning activities designed around life education principles. These activities engage students through interactive and experiential learning, helping them grasp the concepts of rule-following and empathy towards others.
To further reinforce students' awareness of the law and enhance their understanding of the Constitution, Basic Law, and the Hong Kong National Security Law, we collaborate with external organizations to conduct diverse activities. These include lawfulness-themed scavenger hunts, various exhibitions, and quiz competitions, allowing students to learn about these issues in engaging ways, thereby strengthening their awareness of the legal system. We aspire for our students to become socially responsible citizens who "respect the Constitution and comply with the Basic Law and the Hong Kong National Security Law."
In addition, our life education thematic activities for lower grades include cross-curricular teaching (in subjects such as General Studies, Visual Arts, and Library) to help students understand and experience the relationship between humans and nature. This encourages them to appreciate nature from a young age, fostering a spirit of gratitude and care for both people and the environment.
Moreover, we emphasize cultivating a sense of personal responsibility in students by establishing various service teams, including the Discipline Team, Information Pioneers, Library Assistants, and Student Volunteer Team. These initiatives help students develop responsibility, diligence, and perseverance. We also organize inter-class activities and establish various school teams, including sports teams, to strengthen students' sense of belonging to a team, highlighting the importance of accountability to oneself and to the group.
To help students establish a sense of national identity, we have set up the Lam Butt Chung Flag-Raising Team, where students lead the weekly flag-raising ceremony. We also conduct educational activities related to the history of our nation, traditional moral values, and national development during regular morning assemblies, weekly meetings, and special events. Activities such as Cultural Day, Chinese Knowledge Quiz Competitions, and Mid-Autumn Lantern Festivals are organized. Additionally, we facilitate academic and cultural exchanges with mainland schools and arrange visits to places rich in Chinese and Hong Kong cultural history, helping students connect with their roots and develop a sense of attachment to their country.
Furthermore, we emphasize the implementation of environmental education. We continue to participate in the Jockey Club Energy Saving in School Program and have installed various environmental devices, such as solar panels, food waste machines, and solar irrigation systems. These initiatives serve as practical examples for students, illustrating the relevance of environmental protection to our daily lives. We also conduct various exhibitions, mobile classrooms, and seminars to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. Additionally, we focus on the need for growth of students. Along with our Healthy Campus Policy, we help students understand physical growth changes and the importance of self-protection while respecting others.
Through a wide range of comprehensive learning activities, we aim to interlink the twelve values, guiding students to become socially responsible citizens who love themselves, care for others, cherish Hong Kong, and are devoted to their country!
